Hometown Hero – Johnny Adams

Our Thursday, May 7th Hometown Hero is Johnny Adams of Wilmore. Johnny was nominated by his with Tracy. He currently serves at the Battalion Chief for the Nicholasville Fire Department, and also as the Director of Emergency Management for Jessamine County. In addition, Johnny serves as a volunteer firefighter for Jessamine County Fire District.
Tracy says Johnny is a firm believer of taking care of the people in his county – his community. He has been a volunteer since the day he turned 18 and has been with the city of Nicholasville for 21 years. She also tells us that service runs in Johnny’s family! His father was a volunteer firefighter and both his father and mother were on the Rescue squad that eventually became the Jessamine County EMS. His brother in law and his uncle are also all on the job.
When he’s not working Johnny likes to hunt and fish at the Bluegrass Sportsman’s Club in Jessamine County. He and Tracy are also members of a motorcycle club called ‘Brothers’ Keepers’, which is a group made up entirely firefighters and their spouses. The club raises money to send pediatric burn victims to the Hoosier Burn Camp. They have two girls, Amber, 20 and Kelsey, 11.
