Hometown Hero – Anthony Mathies

Our Monday, May 4th Hometown Hero is Anthony Mathies of Georgetown. Anthony was nominated by his wife, Melissa. Melissa said, “ Anthony began his civil service at the age of 18 with the Army. He was eventually deployed to Iraq for 2 years. He remained an Army reservist until 2014. He then took a leap of faith by leaving a job of 10 years to pursue his calling to civil duty. He was accepted into the Lexington Fire Academy. It takes a special person to be able to put your life on the line each day to save the lives of those you do not even know. He has now been a firefighter for over 5 years and during this time he also became a certified paramedic. I could not be a more proud wife. Anthony is my hometown hero!”
According to Melissa, Anthony graduated at the top of his class. He is currently a firefighter and paramedic with the Lexington Fire Department, Station 14, and riding acting officer front seat on EC5.
