Cincinnati, OH (2/17/26) – Award-winning comedian, actor, producer, and director Martin Lawrence comes to Taft Theatre for a one-night-only stand-up performance as part of his “Y’all Still Know What It Is” tour on Saturday, May 2. One of the most successful touring comedians of all time, Lawrence brings his signature raw, unfiltered humor to the stage for an electrifying night of laughs.
Tickets will go on sale to the public beginning at 10am on Friday, February 20 at Ticketmaster.com. Tickets will also be available at The Taft Theatre box office during normal business hours.
From his early days performing in the ’90s, Martin Lawrence launched his legendary career as the host of the influential Def Comedy Jam, before creating and starring in the hit sitcom Martin. The series became a cultural phenomenon and one of FOX’s top-rated shows. His career also includes a string of blockbuster film successes, including the iconic billion-dollar franchise Bad Boys, Big Momma’s House, Life , and Blue Streak, solidifying his status as a global comedy icon.
ABOUT MARTIN LAWRENCE
Martin Lawrence is a German-born American stand up comedian, actor, producer and director. Lawrence came to fame during the 1990s, establishing a Hollywood career as a leading actor. He is best known for his hit TV show Martin which paved the way for black television and created some of the most iconic and beloved characters of all time. He is also known for films including House Party, Boomerang, Bad Boys 1& 2 as well as the most recent Bad Boys for Life, the highest grossing film of 2020. Other films include Wild Hogs, Nothing to Lose, Blue Streak, Life, Big Momma’s House 1, 2 and 3, and A Thin Line Between Love and Hate. Beginning his career in comedy, Lawrence started by doing comedy shows in the Washington, D.C., area. Eventually he ended up moving to New York City and found his way to the legendary Improv Theatre. Shortly after appearing at The Improv. His breakthrough role was as Cee in Do the Right Thing. Other roles quickly followed in films such as the House Party series, Talkin’ Dirty After Dark, and the Eddie Murphy vehicle Boomerang. During this period he was selected to host the groundbreaking series Def Comedy Jam on HBO. Def Comedy Jam was raw and real; a fan favorite, and a game changer for Lawrence. The Martin show, which Martin is best known changed television history. The show ran from 1992-1997 and is still one of the most watched show in syndication. Martin ended its run in 1997, Lawrence’s work in comedy films, gave him the title of one of the most sought-after comedic actors of his time. Many of his films were blockbusters at the box office, including Nothing to Lose, Life, Blue Streak,Big Momma’s House, Knight and National Security and the billion dollar franchise Bad Boys among others
