UK Hoops Takes Another Blow

UK Women’s Basketball has lost another player for the remainder of the 2013-2014 season. Senior Samantha Drake (#31) went down in the first half of the game against Central Michigan Sunday clutching her knee. In a statement by UK athletics today, it was confirmed that Drake tore her ACL and meniscus in her left knee and will have to forgo the remainder of her senior season. According to the UK medical staff, surgery should be expected in the coming weeks and the typical recovery time for this type of injury is seven to eight months.

Drake is a 6’3” forward from Bardstown, Kentucky. She has played in 88 career games with 23 starts and averages of 3.4 points and 2.5 rebounds per game in her career. Drake is the second player to be deemed out for the season after freshman Kyvin Goodin-Rodgers was announced to sit this season out earlier in the season. The Cats are currently ranked #7 and are 5-0.

We wish Samantha a speedy recovery.
